Class Companion’s mission is to provide accessible and high-quality personalized learning. Our first product provides instant AI feedback on written assignments. For teachers, the feedback provides unprecedented insights to coach individual students and saves hours of work. For students, the feedback creates intrinsic motivation centered on progress, reduces the fear of failure, and improves learning outcomes. AI is not an end but a means to help our education system accommodate the unique learning needs of every student.
We balance vision and pragmatism. We build our product in partnership with teachers and students. We’re a small team of diverse individuals with shared core values: intellectual curiosity, hard work, impact, and kindness.
We’re currently a team of seven. Our cofounders are Avery Pan (CEO) and Jack Forbes (CTO), both of whom have educators in their families. Avery led Outschool’s international growth and PicnicHealth’s (YC S14) life sciences sales. She has a BA and MBA from Harvard. Jack led growth teams at MasterClass, founded Kopa (YC W19), and was named Forbes 30 Under 30 (no relation!). He has a BASc from the University of Waterloo. Our investors include OpenAI and Index Ventures.
Reporting to the CEO, this role is a highly experienced individual contributor. You’ll be responsible for delivering best-in-class designs and contributing to product strategy and development. Each day, you’ll work collaboratively with the founders and engineers to enable teachers to use AI in meaningful ways and to make high quality education accessible to all students.
